The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Edo State chapter has paid a courtesy visit to the Otaru-in-Council on Sunday to present the body's new Chairperson in Auchi Sacred Kingdom
Led by Dr. Tijani Oseni, the body informed His Royal Highness together with Village Heads, Customary Chiefs and other community stakeholders that the incumbent Medical Director of Central Hospital Auchi in the person of Dr. Imoisili Udoka has been elected the Chairperson of NMA in Edo state.

He stated that this is the first time in the history of the body that a Chairperson is emerging from Auchi in Etsako West Local Government Area in Edo North.
Dr. Imoisili who is not a new face at the OiC while addressing all, added that she doubles as the Caucus Chairperson of the Health oriented body across the 6 states in South-South Nigeria.
She stated that courtesy of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom, she has been able to achieve monumental goals in repositioning the Central Hospital in Auchi and reiterated that Auchi for her has been the most cooperating and accommodating community where she has been posted to in the cause of her professional life in medicine.
"Auchi is a home indeed and that's why I've remained here for over 5 years since I was posted to this place.
When I came here we had problems of staff shortage where very few hands took care of the medical needs of vary many. This also resulted to the people's lack of confidence in the services of the health facility as they began to take their sick people to other places for treatment which most times didn't go in favour of the sick. I came to His Royal Highness and without any reservation he helped me rejuvenate the central hospital to it's current glory." She said.
Imoisili revealed that as parts of the NMA's mandate to improve on the healthy living of members of the body as well as the general public, she together with other executives of NMA across the state are going to ensure that the Body's presence is felt strongly in Edo North through massively aggressive grassroots campaigns that will reduce drastically health related challenges that are often occasioned by ignorance.

"We are coming up with a lot of medical messages and will be requiring the communities in Edo North to be part of this process of ensuring that these messages we are preparing are localized through translations into our various dialects and to help spread same through our Churches, Mosques, Public Event Centers and other media of information communication available to the people." She said.
The Doctor decried however, that there exists no Secretariat in the entire Edo North for the NMA and stated that there is a need for same in view of encouraging the members of the Nigerian Medical Association (Edo State chapter) to effectively carry out the body's mandate.
To this end, the Monarch (Otaru of Auchi) assured the body of his continuous unflinching support in ensuring that the body succeeds in carrying out its function. He also promised to give voice to the demands of the NMA by prevailing on the requisite authorities to provide the necessary resources and facility needed by the body in view of achieving success..
