World Human Trafficking Day: SCALE, Uromi Justice Development, Others Hold Sensitization Rally in Auchi

Strengthening Civic Advocacy And Local Engagement (SCALE) has held a sensitization Rally against Human Trafficking together with other civil rights bodies in Auchi Sacred Kingdom on Saturday to create awareness over the ugly trend of human trafficking and other related matters.

Every 30th of July has been a day set aside by the United States Agency in International Development to sensitize people on the issue of Human Trafficking all over the world. This year, the campaign was brought to Auchi, the political headquarters of Edo North in view of reaching people at the grassroot.

This year's theme "USE AND ABUSE OF TECHNOLOGY" saw a sensitization rally initiated by SCALE in Collaboration with Uromi Justice Development together with Peace and Caritas Initiative taking its rally round the major  points in Auchi --kicking off at Immaculate Conception Cathedral along Auchi Polytechnic Road and made its stop at the popular Jattu Junction.

Top on the list of the group's awareness move was the sensitizing of the public to beware of the online job promises they get from the social media.

They advised the public to never be silent when they come across Human Trafficking related issues as it is better to speak up so that the issue can be solved and offenders addressed than to be quiet and allow offender continue to commit the ugly crime via the use of the social media to lure unsuspecting/innocent victims.

"When you hear or read something, say Something" they chanted.

The rally had in attendance members of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and Members of the Road Safety Corp.
