Oshiomole/Osomeke Gully: The Community's Eye Appeals Passionately to Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu

My dear Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, Deputy Governor of Edo State and son of Etsako, the people of Oshiomole village, Osomeke Village, Igiebor Village, Oluedide Village are suffering from from the adverse effects of gullies that have been carved out by water erosion in the named areas (all in Auchi Sacred Kingdom, of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State)

Moreso, there are pockets of gullies in some villages in Uzairue Kingdom and beyond.

The majority in a place called Water Tanker road in Oshiomole village of Auchi are currently 'off the electricity grid' because electricity lines and poles have been brought down by erosion. Water Tanker Drivers have been put off business as they can no longer access the road to the river where they get water for supply/sales. What's more? the gully threatens to split/cut the tarred road connecting Auchi to Warrake (connecting Etsako to Owan). Many houses, farms and other areas of human activities/habitation like schools have been swallowed up by the gullies which goes ever deep and wider with each passing rain.

Talking about rains, we have only experienced 14 rains so far in the year 2022 raining season. There are lots of precipitations to come and this anticipation of more rains to come does no good to our people's psych.

At the moment, aside Edo NEWMAP's visit (some time last year) there's been no activity to show that government across all levels of governance is interested in helping the people in the mentioned areas and that is why The Community's Eye is making this passionate appeal to you in view of who you are to the affected people and areas.

As a son, brother and father of these people, we are calling on you to help out.
Help us draw the requisite attention to these areas as in doing this, you show empathy, you help to give weight to the yearnings and voices of the people and more importantly, you etch your name indelibly on the marbles of time.

We are positive that once you make the call, Hon. Johnson Oghuma, Chairman house committee on Environment and Senator Francis Asekhamhe Alimikhena will spring up to action because they know you mean business when it is business time _and of course the business of a government is governance.

While anticipating a positive response to this piece (having tagged your official page) we thank you for the positives you have done and shall continue to do.

Congratulations on the successful recommencement of Okpekpe race as we hope to witness new heights in its modus operandi.

Mho vh'eni kanya èkèlhiómhè 🙏🏽
