Hon. Inusa Imonofi, the Executive Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council was on ground on Friday to monitor the state of compliance by the Muslim populace in view of Government’s Stay-at-Home directive.

The Chairman visited the Central Mosques of Ughiole and Ubiane respectively in Aviele from where he went to that of Jattu and South Ibie Central Mosques where he observed full compliance amongst all.

He seized the opportunity to further sensitize the people of Etsako West and advised that at all times, precautionary measures should be taken as prescribed by professional health workers.

AUCHI BLOGspot in a discussion with the Chief Press Secretary _Mr. Yusuf Oshioke, was informed that there were no offenders in the cause of the tour around all central mosques in Etsako West LGA but for the purpose of enforcing cooperation, men of the Police were on ground.

 

Oshioke when asked what deterrent measures were put in place to ensure full compliance stated, “there were no offenders

…in such circumstances (where there is an offender) the person will be handed over to law enforcement agency to be charged accordingly,” he said, while stressing that it is a crime to violate government’s order.

Abdul Jelil on his part while responding to an Online LIVE show on “KIYAMATA” on Saturday over the phone averred that the Local Government, being the closest arm of the government to the people at the Grassroots, has in numerous ways churn out programmes to help curtail and contain the covid-19 pandemic.

“…We have been doing sensitization, creating awareness to our people. Letting them know that corona virus is real because some of them do not believe that this virus is real. They feel unconcerned that this thing is not from Nigeria, it is from China and it can never get to Nigeria more or less getting to Edo.

…so what we have been doing at the Local Government level being the government very close to the masses, we have been doing sensitization, road shows, orientating our people, trying to let them know that this corona virus is real.

We have gone to various strategic places like the markets in Auchi to Jattu, south Ibie and Agbede, informing them to always wash their hands, not only that, we are also providing hand sanitizers and buckets with taps in strategic places where we know that people will always visit as well as provide hand gloves for marketers, market women.”

He stated that the aforementioned has not been a one day show by reiterating that the Chairman has mandated him, the chief press secretary together with all the councilors to carry out this onerous duty on a daily basis.

Speaking on the purported issue of conditional cash transfer and how the government intends to fish out the poorest of the poor hs stated “my privileged information that I have is that the Edo state Governor, the person of Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki is putting on all measures to see that all the good citizens, not only Edo citizens, all Edo residents who live and reside in Edo are going to get something and all the necessary measures are now being put in place, a committee has been set up to look at the modalities and ways that these monies are going to the people who actually deserve it.”
