Auchi Day Football
Competition resumed on the 3rd of January 2020 with a match between Utsogun and
Igbei at the Ikelebe Sports’ Arena.
The Day 5 match saw
Utsogun into their 4th win in a roll as they clinged another 3points to sit
comfortably with a total of 12points on top of the table.
Result of the hard
fought match which was marred by controversies of a possible sell out or better
still an accusation of a supposed accord match coupled with bad officiating was
bitterly refuted by Mr. Shaini the coach of the Igbei side. He stated
emphatically, his disdain and dissatisfaction at how the referee turned a blind
eye to three penalty offenses committed by the Utsogun side.
“This game is nonsense. Truth be told, since I’ve been watching football
I’ve never seen this kind of a game. The central referee was the biggest problem
of the match. I honestly think the game should have been disqualified because
there were about three clear penalties but he didn’t give us the chance to
maximize the chances the penalties would have afforded us” He said.

“You can see that this is clearly not what they have insinuated. We won
the match. How could we have won a match we sold out? All I know is that me and
my boys are focused on winning the trophy and you can see how well we’ve played
and won in all four appearances.”
He urged all to desist
from the act of proliferating fake news and focus on the games with the hope
that only the best team emerges victorious at the end of the competition.
“I’m really proud of my boys. They have really stuck to the winning plan.
We have pulled off a record that has never been done since the history of
football in Afenmai. We’ve made four appearances and claimed victory in all
four with a total of 12 points to show. I’m positive we will lift the trophy
God willing.” He concluded.
Fans of the Utsogun
side expressed optimism and stated that Utsogun has come to take the trophy
home this time and that the games played so far are pointers towards the direction.
