20 Students Get Scholarship Awards Courtesy of YZK Foundation Scholarship Programme in Auchi

No fewer than 20 Students of Auchi extraction at various levels and in different institutions of tertiary education have been awarded scholarships by Alhaji Zekeri Kadiri Memorial Scholarship together with Dr. Yahaya and Mrs. Lami Zekeri Kadiri Scholarship Awards.

Coined as YZK Foundation Scholarship Programme, the maiden edition of the awards took place at the Otaru of Auchi's Palace in the presence of village heads as well as friends, families and we'll wishers of the beneficiaries.



Representing the initiators of the foundation, Sir Ahmed Kadiri informed all that the initiative which is going to be a yearly event is borne out of the need to cater for the academic needs of indigent students from Auchi who are academically bright.

He stated that going forward, the scheme will be competitive as there are standards to be maintained in admitting and retaining beneficiaries in view of ensuring that only truly deserving students with potential for success are picked yearly.

His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom lauded the initiative and its initiators stating that the light Allah has planted in Auchi is shinning through Education and other charitable acts being brought down by Auchi sons and daughters in the Diaspora.





The Monarch prayed for the success of the programme stating that it has come to complement his efforts at ensuring that every eligible Auchi child who is ready do his or her post graduate programme but has challenges get the necessary support for their academic adventure.

His Highness seized the opportunity to encourage those who Allah has blessed with wealth to give to charity by donating to the AUCHI COMMUNITY CHARITABLE FUND INITIATIVE , a fund through which medical needs, academic emergencies, security matters, food and feeding challenges are addressed. He noted that times are hard but there is a need to encourage charitable acts as 'charity is the medium through which we pay our rent on Earth'.

High point of the event was the Awarding of the scholarship certificates by the Otaru of Auchi on behalf of YZK Foundation Scholarship Programme to the beneficiaries.

On the medical (full ride) scholarship, OSENI AISHAT from Utsogun Heritage Village and SHAIBU FRIDA from Igbei Heritage Village got #300,000 each.

Muhammed Sediq, Seidu Ibrahim, Seidu Muhammed, Abdul-Rasheed Muhammad, Shuaib Ameerah, Shuaib Maryam, Aliu Teslim, Salihu Fakhirat, Momoh Mikhail, Shuaibu Abdul-Hafeez, Ikharo Khadijat all from Ustogun Heritage Zone got #100,000 each

Those from Aibotse include Shaibu-Suleiman Khadijat and Muhammad Abdulhafeez while from the Igbei Heritage Zone Umoru Habibat, Umoru Abdulhakeem and Jimoh Lukman got #100,000 each as well.

Additionally, Abu Faridah and Oseni Bekisu both from Iyekhei Heritage Zone each got #100,000 from the YZK Foundation Scholarship Programme.







The Chief Imam of Auchi, Professor Z.I. Oseni together with Prince Alh. Munir Momoh challenged the beneficiaries to make their benefactors proud by doing better in their academics and called on more well meaning and well to do Auchi sons and daughters at home and in the Diaspora to wake up to the challenge of giving charity through means that will advance the course of the Auchi people.

Seidu Ibrahim, an awardee, expressed joy and appreciated the kind gesture of the initiators and promised that he will do better by God's Grace to ensure that those who committed funds towards the scholarship are encouraged to help more people.
