The Head of Service of Etsako West Local Government Council who was ably represented by at the Otaru-in-Council on Sunday while attending to the invitation of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom has stated that the Local Government together with stakeholders of the community are on top of the issue and have drawn up actionable plans in view of putting an end to the seemingly yearly fatal accidents in Auchi.
John Ogiadomhe, Director of Administration of Etsako West Local Government Council stated that at the time, speed breakers have already be done on the waterboard axis of town to discourage riders/drivers from over speeding on the road (a situation that led to the unfortunate death of 2 primary school children and a bike man in February).
"It's purely the responsibility of the local Government Council to ensure that lives and properties are secured.
in the event of Wednesday's accident that claimed lives and properties, we went to the venue and assessed the situation.
thereafter, we offered some palliatives to the injured in the various hospitals were they were admitted."
According to John Ogiadomhe, the following are some of the measures that have been approved in view of ending fatal accidents in Auchi town:
1. Council shall put measures in place to prohibit trailers from entering Auchi during the day.
2. Council shall look for a vacant government land/area and allocate same to cement businesses.
3. Council shall commence the creation of Crossbars (By Idogho Hospital, Braimah Workshop, Aviele Road and Igbei road)
4. Council shall ensure that Jattu road down to AP will have speed breakers.
The Director of Administration assured all that Engineers have been contacted to carry out a feasibility in view of ensuring that proper costing is done and work is carried out in accordance to standard.

Additionally, as part of measures aimed at preventing commuters from walking on the main roads in town, the issue of walkways on which some traders now trade was brought to the notice of the Director.
Members of the OiC related to Ogiadomhe how on most walkways, small businesses have taken over and appealed that same be cleared to avert the dangers that could emanate from such abnormality.
This he admitted to relate with the HOS to ensure that in collaboration with community stakeholders, the walkways are cleared.
