Sometimes I can't help but set the record straight no matter how harsh it may seem.

The other day at AFEMAI SONS & DAUGHTERS group on facebook, a brother made sinister remarks about how a sister who in actuality hails from Imeke claimed she's from Auchi whilst introducing herself to a brother in Lagos.

He further appealed that people should stop claiming to have come from Auchi and start telling the world where their original roots from Uzairue Kingdom is. He noted that Uzairue is too big for one Community to outshine.

That post exposed so much about him to the point that it relates to discerning minds how poor his knowledge about the people and places of Afenmai is.

Auchi is not a community. She is a Kingdom of Communities and currently there are not less 25villages therein.

Further into the comment section, a commentator claimed that Auchi is a constituent of Uzairue as it was Uzairue that gave Auchi the area the people of Auchi currently reside _a derivation from the part where the poster made the remark that 'Uzairue is too big for one Community to outshine.'

The comments grew from bad to worse despite calls on admins to pull down the post.

My question was, "in what way does a post such as this engender peaceful coexistence between and amongst the people of Etsako?"

The answer I got was, "where is the violence in Etsako?" _an answer meant to spite my question.

Here's the truth.

Many of us feign ignorance when issues such as these come up. Very many act matured and simply pass. Then again, a greater number sling mud and ruffle feathers in the light of such conversations.

At the end, ties are cut off, love is lost, hate is born and discord gains growth.

Lest I forgot, there was a comment on the post where in an attempt to explain why the name 'Auchi' is popular amongst the Kingdoms of Edo North, the responder stated that the Federal Polytechnic situated in Auchi Sacred Kingdom is what gives the geo-location it's weight and that's why everyone identifies with her.

It's laughable but ironically, this isn't funny.

I see an urgent need for an inclusion of the history of Afenmai in the curricula of learning at our post primary institutions just so we begin to understand certain issues as they appear today in relation to where these things started with a view to living a positive life together going forward.

I hope this piece sinks into your heart and mind positively in a bid for us to learn and set things in proper perspective rather than irk your emotions and spark emotional sentiments that becloud sagacity.

I am proudly an Afenmai, Etsako, Auchi son and I strongly believe that Óghéna Órha'Évbo Uchi kó and so, if we must make progress we have to know that 'utsomha khe'ekpabó!' and act accordingly.

Vha mho kpo 🙏
