March day Final of the 3rd Edition of Iyekhei Sports Festival saw team Osigwe clinching the Cup as they emerged champions of the year 2020 tournament on Monday.
ISF2020 which began on the 15th of November saw various families in Iyekhei contesting for the Golden Spot and climaxed to an electrifying peak where Osigwe and Aimeonikhare made it to the final having survived the group and knockout stages in the competition at Ekhei Primary School, Auchi.

At the sound of the opening whistle, the duet began and Osigwe found the back of the net with a powerful offensive in not later than 5minutes of play. Not later than 3minutes after the opening goal by the Osigwes, team Aimeonikhare leveled the scores with and equalizer which made the score line 1:1. From then till full time of play no other goal scoring opportunity was converted as the central referee had to decide the winner through a penalty shootout.
6PKs where shot per team but team Osigwe where able to convert all their 6shots to goals while Aimeonikhare where only able to find the back of the net 5times thereby making Osigwe Champions of the 3rd Edition of the Tournament after team Odikoko had lifted the trophy twice since its inception as an organized football competition in Iyekhei.
Organizers, Fans and Teams are all agreed that the competition has come a long way and have seen a lot of progress though not without challenges but are optimistic that subsequent tournaments will be better while appealing to stakeholders and grassroots sports lovers to key into the sports programmes of the Auchi Community to promote the players to stardom as well has help provide a conducive environment where sports can thrive.
The event witnessed award presentations where the Odwevho of Auchi Sacred City, Yahaya Dirisu was honored as an Outstanding Youth of Excellence for his humanitarian services, empowerment and entrepreneurial exploits. Speaking on the occasion of the award, the Secretary of His Royal Highness of Auchi and CEO Danish Cuisines appreciated Almighty Allah for the recognition and thanked the organizers of the event. He prayed for better outings and stressed the need for hard work and discipline on the part of the youths in pursuing their chosen careers going forward and encouraged the organizers with a token for performing so well.
Iyekhei Sports Festival 2020 shall come to an end on the 1st of January 2021 with a marathon race from Aviele down to Sharp Corner.
