Engr. Muhammed Ahmed, son of the late eldest man of Kadiri Idao Royal house _Alhaji Mikairu Ahmed has donated over 300 books to aid learning in Auchi Sacred City.
This was done on Sunday the 20th as the lover of quality books and impressive academic performances saw the need to contribute his quota to helping undergraduates in the Cosmopolitan Town attain quality education through the provision of textbooks across a wide range of disciplines.
It was gathered that the younger brother of Engr. Saliu Ahmed, DG of Benin-Owenna River Basin Authority has always nurtured the lofty idea of building a library for his community where children of Auchi Extraction could visit to carry out brain exercises that could strengthen their academics at their various institutions of learning. His dream is to have an Auchi where students perform optimally thanks to the availability of learning materials necessary for their academic sojourn wherever they school.
“Growing up, I realized that there was no library or a quiet place to study in Auchi. Back in the days, we used to study in classrooms after school or during weekends. I told myself that if and when I have the means, I’d like to establish a library for people to go study.
3years ago, I was informed about a library built over 10years ago, but never commissioned. I began to talk to like-minded people on the need to equip the library for the benefit of Auchi indigenes studying in higher education.
I have realized how poorly students performed in the last few years, I’m sure good and quality modern books could help raise the quality of students of Auchi Extraction.” He said.
Mo La as he is fondly referred to by friends explained that he has high expectations that the gesture will amount to great academic performances as quality learning materials would ultimately translate to scholarly outputs if properly handled.
“I expect that the books will benefit students, teachers and everyone pursuing knowledge at a higher education level. I equally expect that going forward, other well-intentioned individuals will contribute their quota to ensure we have a befitting library and learning resources to support students.” He stated.

Speaking about the import of the gesture, Muhammed informed AUCHI BLOG that, “the future belongs to those who have knowledge in specific disciplines. They must continuously develop knowledge in STEM disciplines to be part of the future. Our youths should spend their time to gain knowledge that will make them relevant now and in the future.”
