Scanty Jattu Market Day
By: Jeremiah Enaholo Kadiri

The famous Jattu market was on Monday opened only to sellers of essential items like foodstuffs both raw and processed.

This comes in view of Government’s Stay-at-Home directive to curtail the spread of the Covid-19.

The Ogieneni of Uzarue Kingdom in compliance with precautionary measures such as social distancing, ordered that the market be shut to anyone who is not a foodstuff seller to avoid overcrowding of the area. He mandated the Jattu Vigilante Squad to man the area for possible breaches and to arrest same.

A visit to the Market showed that the business hub has become a shadow of itself as not much people where allowed to carry out commercial activities.

Major shops and sales outlets were locked while the operational ones had water and soap for customers to wash their hands with before doing business.
