With the commencement of asphalt laying at I.C.E road on Thursday, a lot of mixed feelings have been felt.
Many, especially shop owners in the area are happy that the problem of heavy dust hitherto experienced during the dry season will no longer be felt.
They also are agreed on the fact that the road has become motorable and this will increase traffick in the area once more --which will increase visibility for the products and services of traders along the road.
However, on the flip side, some residents in the area are of the opinion that the project is not being done according to international best standards.
Speaking to The Community's Eye , some people in the area are of the opinion that the asphalt is too thin for the volume of anticipated vehicular movement on the road once open for traffic.
They say the thickness is not more than an inch in some areas and this will amount to an exercise in futility once factors of weathering such as rain and movement of heavy duty trucks begin to tell on the road.
In a livestream which was done on the platform of AUCHI BLOGspot , it was gathered that a proper earth work wasn't done to evacuate dirt that were once used to check the rate of erosion on the road by residents of the area.
This is believed to be a major concern in determining the lifespan of the road project.
What do you think?
