His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh, Ikelebe III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom has gone round the erosion control projects in Auchi on Saturday in view of inspecting and evaluating progress.
The monarch made his first stop at Pond 1, located beside NNPC Mega Station, along the Benin-Okene Expressway from where he proceeded to Pond 2 otherwise known as Ikelebe Sports Arena (Public Field) through Abu Inu-Umoru street in Igbe down to Aibotse noting the extent of drain work done.
In company of the Chinese representative in charge of the erosion control project, Engr. Abia, Palace Chiefs together with members of Auchi Project Committee (comprising mostly of Engineers and Town Planners), the King was briefed on the progress of the project and what to expect at the end of the work being done.
His Highness, though impressed with the level of work done so far, appealed to the contractors to ensure that the work is facilitated for the benefit of all so that businesses can again thrive in the area.

Engr. Abia thanked HRH Alh. A.H. Momoh for his fatherly role in the course of the work and revealed that the host community has been very cooperative and has helped a great deal in ensuring quality.
He told His Highness that the people of Auchi are friendly and have in no small measure shown genuine concern in the work by pointing out critical aspects and going as far as recommending solutions to problems when same arise.
When asked if the Public Field will still be suitable for sporting and other public activities, Engr. Abia answered in the affirmative _stating that though the pond (as it were) is meant to hold and reduce pressure of runoff water, a mechanism is in place to ensure that accumulated water drains off within minutes. This he said would give users the opportunity to make use of the place whenever they need to as long as it's not raining at the time.
The project will forestall the adverse effects of erosion by properly channeling runoff water whenever it rains to avoid the once upon a time degradation that hitherto drove people out of business and destroyed sources of livelihood.
