Otaru Appeals to Market Women to Stop Hiking Prices of Commodities in Auchi

HRH, Alh. A.H. Momoh, Ikelebe III, Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom has appealed to the conscience of market women in Auchi to stop seeking too much gains during the sales of their goods.

He made this call during an Otaru in Council (OiC) meeting on Sunday in the presence of the Chairperson of Rice Sellers together with her members.

The Monarch stated that in a bid for customers to cut cost, they will begin to resort to purchase essential items directly from the manufacturers or farmers leaving the market women to their goods and this will amount to less sales for the market women.

Again, His Highness advised the women to be considerate when fixing prices because workers and civil servants don't get salary raise as often as prices are increased.

"Seeking too much gains incurs the wrath of Allah and the anger of Allah causes retrogression for a people." He said whilst bringing in the spiritual aspect of the matter to fore.

The women appreciated the OiC's invitation and while stating economic factors responsible for the hike in prices thanked His Highness and promised to look into the King's admonition and pick the positives.
