Led by Chief Nurudeen Oseni the Daudu of Ösoméké village who doubles as the President of Auchi Dynamic Youth Association, ADYA paid a courtesy visit to MT Odunmbanku, commander FRSC on Tuesday.
The president reported that the intent of the visit is to on the one hand familiarize ADYA with the FRSC authorities in the cosmopolitan town and to on the other hand intimate the the commander about the influx of vehicular inflow into the main town via Jattu and Warrake road axis.
He stated that this influx has resulted in several collisions and other problems occasioned by heavy traffic in town and appealed for a perusal of the matter to fathom out ways to establish certain measures like the creation of road signs and speed breakers that could savage the situation.
The commander appreciated the effort of ADYA stating that same issue is being looked at by ensuring that there is free vehicular movement and ensure that enforcement on traffic breaches are carried out where there is any.
He stated that the major vehicular challenge in Auchi comes from Trucks and Okada riders and that on the part of FRSC, efforts are put in place to minimize breaches and accidents by sensitizing road users on the need to ensure that safety measures are adhered to.
The Commander also advised that ADYA reaches out to the various transport oriented unions in Auchi to help spread the message of safety and other ways to discourage irresponsible practices on the road.
"There should be a synergy between the FRSC officials and ADYA to come up with an actionable plan that when implemented can help bring down the level of traffic breaches in the area." he said.
Sundry issues around the use of number plates, involvement of other state actors like the Police and Local Government Council in the exercise of collaboratively gearing efforts to help ameliorate traffic breaches in Auchi going forward were also discussed.
