Men have been advised to show empathy and assist in carrying out house chores in view of engendering a long lasting relationship of mutual coexistence in love and respect.

This call was made during AUCHI BLOGspot's Live Show tagged 'Emhö Neytö' (Burning Issues) when Enaholo J.K. came up with 'Who is a Real Man?' as the topic of discourse.

He asked salient questions bordering on what makes a man real and considered strong whilst accusing some men of negligence of duty.

Citing real instances, the host explained that most men don't quite attend to the most minute needs of their wives from pregnancy to delivery and this may have been responsible for certain problems that Mar marriages.

Dr. Biem, a caller into the Livestream who happens to have started his practice in Auchi stated that, in truth, most men are guilty of the accusations levied against them by the host of Emhö Neytö and stated that this has led to aggravated cases of Post Partum Blues (a depressive condition nursing mothers sometimes fall into).

He however stated that there are some reasons why men do not help in doing certain chores which are however considered the woman's duty. Most women abuse Privileges and make the assistance granted them a compulsory duty of the man and this tends to irritate the man who hitherto had good intentions to help out.

Most commentators were of the view that the patriarchal nature of our African society is to be blamed for the mentality of men who believe that women should not be assisted.

In all, it was agreed that even though certain roles are known to be gender sensitive, couples must strive to be complementary in performing these roles if they wish to enjoy their relationships.
