The mode of selecting the traditional ruler of Auchi known as Otaru of Auchi in Etsako west local government area of Edo state which has been by consensus and election process is now a subject of litigation at a high court sitting in Benin,Edo state.
In a suit filed by the Ikharo rulling House and two sub rulling House,omonofua/lgechi/omomo and ldao branch of ikelebe rulling House is seeking for the enforcement of the report of the 1971 Odjiugo commission of enquiry into the Auchi Traditional council.
In the suit filed between the claimants, Mamadou ikharo,Yahaya ikharo against the Attorney General,Edo state Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs,HRH H A Momoh are seeking a declaration that the selection, presentation and appointment and production of otaru of Auchi is rotational and each sub rulling House of ikelebe rulling House of Auchi must take its turn in accordance with the customs and tradition of Auchi as enshrined in section 3 (2) and 14(1)C of the traditional rulers and chiefs Law 1979.
The case which is presently before justice Dan okugbowa of Benin high court is slated for hearing on the 24 and 25th February 2020.

Well, since the case is before a court of competent jurisdiction already, let's await it's verdict.
