The event which took place on Thursday the 11th of August was held at the Nigerian National Merit Awards Secretariat (Merit House) in Maitama, Abuja, saw the prestigious son of Auchi carefully selected and recognized as a distinguished personality who has contributed to National development in no small measure.

According to City Base Magazine, Engr. Saliu was carefully examined and picked as a befitting individual among other inspiring professionals and top achievers in  the service sector for the Awards because of his penchant for addressing food security for the nation through Agriculture.

Noteworthy, the Leaders and Legacy Awards are conferred on only top individuals whose workings in the service sector have created remarkably tangible change or improvement that greatly impacts the country's development.

On his part, the Managing Director of Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority (a branch under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources) is challenged to contribute more towards ensuring that Nigeria attains food security in the nearest foreseeable future. This he is doing through numerous water, roads and agricultural projects across the BORBDA coverage areas of Edo, Ekiti, Ondo and a Senatorial District in Delta state.
