Dele Obaitan Amplifies Fawaz Muhammad's Criticisms of Speed Breakers in Auchi

The Edo State Commissioner of Culture, Arts, Tourism and Diasporan Affairs, Hon. Dele Obaitan Has Joined in Expressing Dismay at the indiscriminate Creation of Speed Breakers in Auchi Sacred Kingdom.

He made his thoughts on the matter known by sharing a post made by Prince Fawaz Muhammad, adding that speed bumps are becoming part of the causes of road accidents rather than control speed or caution drivers.

The article titled 'SPEED BREAKERS: A SOLUTION OR PROBLEM?' was shared on the commissioner's wall on Facebook with his personal thoughts expressed.
"Excellent write up. While we need speed limit enforcement on our roads, these crudely designed and built speed bumps have become a nuisance to society and cause regular damage and accidents to road users. This issue needs to be addressed!" He said.

The original piece as authored by Prince Fawaz Muhammad critiques the menacing manner by which the bumps are created and suggests that speed humps would have been better than speed bumps given the nature of the Auchi Polytechnic-Iyekhei road.

Since the creation of the bumps (a project sponsored by Chief Mike Abdul in memory of his late Father who was involved in an accident on the said road before his demise), a lot of people have expressed disappoinment at the fact that the job was done by laying concrete on an asphalted road and are even more irritated knowing that the Director of Works, Etsako West Local Government Council supervised same.

It is hoped that the commissioner's thoughts on the matter will reach the appropriate quarters in view of forestalling accidents which can be caused by indiscriminate speed bumps.
