Security is a collective task that every stakeholder in a community must guard jealously as in the safety of lives and properties, the presence of peace and tranquility comes development and advancement in any society.
This was made known by Comrade Sanni Kafeel, Honorable member Representing Edo North at the 5th Assembly of the Nigerian Youth Parliament on Wednesday at Moore Boulevard in Jattu-Uzairue while addressing youths in a Town Hall Meeting.
Topic of the day was National Security and Youth Development as packaged by Globe Takers Foundation for the purpose of creating awareness at the grassroots.

The former Student Union Government President of Auchi Polytechnic who doubles as an Edo State House of Assembly Hopeful revealed that the Town Hall Meeting was necessary at a time when anomalies have almost become the norm.
"It is with great joy and fulfilment that this town hall meeting is coming to reality. It is aimed at exploring opportunities available for the development of youths and brainstorm on the security challenges facing the nation and the way forward." He said.
On his part, Sir Charles Obi, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics ( NDLEA ) Auchi Zone posited that for every crime committed in the country, drug is oftentimes the influencing factor. Charles explained that Illicit drug trafficking and consumption of controlled substances has destroyed, still destroys and may continue to do so if left unchecked and brought significantly down.
He advised that youths must factor in their future in dealing with rogue politicians who are oftentimes responsible for the supplies of these drugs just so that the youths can do their bidding through wrecking havoc and disturbing the peace of society.
"we must ensure that we keep good company such that will not lead us to do stuffs we normally won't do.
...anything that you cannot do in the presence of your parents, don't do it in their absence." he said.
Speaking to the matter, the proprietor of Diligence Secondary School, Chief Lecky Oshiorenua on the one hand applauded the convener of the Town Hall Meeting urging Sanni Kafeel to organize more frequently _such meetings that will serve as sources of orientation for the youths and on the other hand spoke extensively on the need for youths to live above board and not in line with the status quo.
The seasoned Academician x-rayed the need for the younger generation to be mentored by role models that are worthy of emulation in the society and stated that such exercises bring about the sort of exposure for the mentees that will engender development and national security on the long run.
"you must strive to become better than your current self as you advance in life. As you make progress, do well to congratulate yourself because you need to reassure yourself that you are indeed on the right track. However, when faced with trials, one must learn, continue to learn as in learning lies the capacity to overcome." He said.
Sir Oshiorenua reiterated that Youths must stay away from bad company and obey their parents no matter the condition of same. He advised that youths must be real with themselves as there is no shame in being real.
From the National Orientation Agency, Nigeria. , Hajia Jamilatu Haruna explained the advantages of having a secured community. While stating that security is a state of being safe, she told all that once a community is safe, once there is no fear of real or perceived disturbance of security, the community begins to record infrastructural development, businesses begin to flourish with more investors coming in, social amenities are attracted and the community progresses beyond imagination.
Instances of places of unrest were given and it was agreed that indeed, insecurity is a drawback and stumbling block to progress, development and stability of the economy.
Mrs. Amidat Ilegar Austine of Miss Afenmai and Comr. Sen. Zekeri Abdulsalam of the Student Union Government (Auchi Polytechnic Chapter) contributed to the discourse and encouraged youths to adhere to the teachings of the various speakers in view of bettering the society. They advised that those who have heard the message must not keep it in them as it is necessary to spread the message as far as possible.
The power packed and revealing event was attended by Mrs. Muminat Yakub (NOA), Egwakhide Godday (Jattu Divisional Police Headquarters), Aniosele Lambert (NDLEA), Hon. Abduljelil Ainakhwagbor (Former Deputy Chairman EWLG Council), Hon. Sadoh Yusuf (NNPP Chieftain), Ojojor Basil Imhokha (NNPP) Comr. Abeni Azeez Yusuf Albez Marine and Abdullah Apemeye (UMYAN).
Others include Prince Chaleman M.K.O. Momoh, Prince Fawaz Muhammad, Comrade Ani, Rev. Peter of Etsako Diocese and a host of others.
Izharudeen Muslim Secondary School and Diligence Secondary School where ably represented by a cross-section of students who were more like the focal point of the Town Hall Meeting as a result of their age and developmental stage.
