John Adegbite, a final year student of the department of Painting and General Art, School of Art and Industrial Design has depicted the colourful culture of the Afenmai people using paints on a massive wall.
The project titled 'Community Mirror' was spotted by Auchi Blog & Services at the Painting department where John colourfully displayed the various people and culture of the Edo North indigenes.
Asked what inspired the idea of coming up with such a beautiful peace when in fact the painter is of the Yoruba extraction, John Adegbite informed Enaholo J.K. that he is marveled by the rich culture of the Kukuruku people and that the hospitable nature of Afenmai people motivated him to carry out the onerous adventure of researching about the people, places and their events before coming up with a final piece.
The project is being supervised by Mr. Kent, a lecturer in the School of Art and Industrial Design who told Pressmen that the work is a community project.
He stated that every member of the communities of Afenmai should own the project and feel free to contact the school for collaboration on ways to promote and preserve their culture and tradition via media such the one being done by Mr. John.
Various indigenes who have been to the site (at the department of Photography) have had the opportunity of adding colour to the work as an exercise towards ensuring that the project is truly a community project.
Here (in the pictures below) is Enaholo J.K. of AUCHI BLOG & SERVICES adding some colourful brush strokes to the project in view of representing the people of Auchi Sacred Kingdom together with others in the exercise of communal ownership of the work.
