BACKGROUND

The young and politically vibrant Sanni Kafeel Abdulkadir is an Uzairue son born on the 14th of December 1989 to the late Alhaji Sanni Abdulkadir and Hajia Safrat both in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

He is heavily influenced by the virtues instilled on him whilst growing up under his father who was a pioneer member of the Edo State Government Pilgrimage Board and a Clergyman under whose tutelage a lot of people benefitted morally, financially and spiritually in life before his transition from worldly life at the age of 84 in 2016.

Alhaji Sanni Abdulkadir was whilst alive a philanthropist, a teacher, a social mobilizer and scholar of Islamic knowledge. He taught Kafeel together with his siblings and children in Uzairue Kingdom and beyond the import of being upright no matter who and where they were from.

ACADEMIC JOURNEY

In 1995 Kafeel started his academic  life from Azama Primary School in Jattu and later left for Izharudeen Muslim Primary/Secondary School  where he attained his First School Leaving Certificate in the 1999/2001 academic session. He attained his post primary education at Izharudeen Muslim Secondary school in 2007 where he did his SSCE before joining his peers at the prestigious Auchi Polytechnic and attained both Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in 2012 and 2015 respectively from the department of Science Laboratory Technology, school of Applied Sciences.

The young Politician, was drafted to Minna in Niger State in 2016 for his National Youth Service Corps programme where he served his fatherland at the Government house on the one hand and on the other hand carried out his Community Development Service as President of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) till 2017.

WORK HISTORY

Mr. Sanni Kafeel Abdulkadir started gathering work experience immediately after his secondary education in 2007 when he took up a teaching job as a JAMB tutor in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This he did for about 6 years, servicing schools in Auchi, Aviele and Jattu at the time. His one year NYSC programme again served as a veritable avenue to gather work experience at his Place of Primary Assignment at the SDGs office in the Niger state Government House. Later on, he worked as a Trainee Expert at a Film House in Porthacourt from 2020 to 2021 before joining the service of Fair Express as Manager in Imo State  where he works till date.

MARRIAGE

Kafeel got married on the 24th day of July 2021 to an Auchi Lady, Subaidah Isa whom he met in the year 2017 on his way home from Benin. Hitherto his nuptial union with Subaidah, Kafeel has always nurtured the idea of marrying an Auchi woman having had pleasant experiences with the people of Auchi Kingdom.

POLITICAL LIFE

Although man is a political animal, not all men learn or get involved actively in the game early in life. On his part, Kafeel started up politically as an active participant in governance and democratic process from a relatively young age. As an Ordinary National Diploma student in Auchi Polytechnic, the young chap contested and won the position of the Assistant Secretary General and became the Student Union Government (SUG) Asst. Sec. Gen during the 2011/2012 academic session. During this period he was also the Coordinator National Rebirth of Campuses, Auchi Polytechnic Chapter. At the point of his reentrance into the Institution of Higher Learning (Auchi Polytechnic) as a Higher National Diploma undergraduate, Kafeel vied for the Office of the Student Union Government President and won it unopposed (a feat never before recorded prior his coming and after his reign as SUG president in Auchi Polytechnic till date). As the number one student of the institution, Sanni Kafeel doubled as the Senator representing Auchi Polytechnic at the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) and National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) for the 2014/2015 academic session.

Currently, he represents the good people of Edo North at the National Youth Parliament and is contesting for the office of the Representative of Etsako West Constituency II at the Edo State House of Assembly.

“Preparation for what lies ahead should not be procrastinated. Let us go for what we believe in.” he says.

The above explains his political ambition in view of his developmental anticipations for his people, the people of Etsako, Edo state and Nigeria in general. The young man is a detribalized Nigerian who respects the views of people, take from all to form informed decisions for a better future. He is a volunteer for community service and does same with zest, believing that whatever he does for the growth of his community will eventually influence/affect the larger society going forward.

Responding to the question of how the youths can begin to participate without fears in politics, Kafeel states that, “The electoral process is becoming better and better by the day with technology and youths should begin to see this as an advantage for them to get engaged in the political process that produces their leaders. They should capitalize on their numbers and elect those who would repair the country rather than leave it for the few who are there for their selfish interest at the detriment of the majority. As it is today, the issue of election rigging is phasing out because technology is making the practice old fashioned to the point that election results will now be transmitted electronically _giving the voter the assurance that his/her vote counts because it will reflect. The people are the government because any government is formed by the people and for the benefit of the people.”

“My inspiration and motivation is steered by the very few politically aware youths who are always ready to give support to my vision for my people (Nigerians). I have always believed in a better Nigeria and to endear myself to the people in whose hands lie  the power to bring leaders into seats of power to gain same access to power for the good of those whom same power should empower, I took up the name Nice during my Undergrad days and having gained acceptance, I won as the Assistant Secretary General of the SUG during my ND and as SUG President during my HND. I am hopeful that even the politics of stomach infrastructure will end too because back then in my undergrad days I did not spend money in getting into power. I spoke to people, learnt from experiences, developed programmes, appealed to the students and at the end I was accepted and subsequently won overwhelmingly even without an opponent.” He says.

Notewhorthy, here are some of the milestones of the Sanni Kafeel Administration as SUG president in 2014/2015 during the time of Dr. Mrs. Philipa Omame Idogho who was the then Rector of Auchi Polytechnic:

First SUG Regime to purchase a Bus for the Welfare Scheme of Auchi Polytechnic Students

The construction of a park in campus II

The erection of a net barricade preventing students from crossing the express and encouraging them to use the pedestrian bridge (a structure that is still in place and has continued to prevent avoidable loss that hitherto happened as a result of accidents).

Kafeel is one of those from the school of thought who believe that the Time is Youth O’clock and Nigerians must recognize this and act accordingly. He affirms that Today’s youths have the capacity to change things for the better if given the chance to make the requisite change necessary for a better Nigeria. Stating what he will do differently to better represent the people of Etsako West Constituency II, he tells the Community’s Eye that youth engagement is key as a large chunk of the Nigerian population stems from the people within the age bracket known as youths. He posits that having garnered a lot of experience from the grassroots up to the federal level of youth representation, it is only logical to channel his youthful and productive energy into representing his people and contribute his quota in building/developing the society using the most powerful platform _Politics.

Sanni Kafeel is looking at creating laws that will facilitate youth oriented programmes that would take same people off vices that currently trouble society. He notes that no Youth is genuinely interested in crime when and if there is a conducive environment for such persons to thrive genuinely. He sees youth engagement as one key area that will address the numerous security, social and economic problems facing the people of Edo state and Nigeria at large and states that regular intercommunication with youths and women who are critical stakeholders in the business of governance would do a lot of good.

“As it is now, with the passing of the not too young to rule bill, I am coming in to prove to people of all generations why youths should be given mantles of leadership. I am coming in with innovative ideas that would bridge the gap between leaders and the led and more so, carry the people along in all decision making processes because my being at the EDHA if elected is for the good of the people and same people should have a say in what comes to them. What’s more? I’ll have to ensure that the people’s yearnings are facilitated by my presence in the house. How can we do this? It is not a rocket science. I together with our representatives in the Red and Green Chambers at the federal level will have to form a collaboration in favour of our people, establish townhall meetings, open communication outlets through which the people can talk to us, establish beneficial schemes that would engage youths and women and more.

The energy of the youthful populace has to be positively harnessed through the provision of certain welfare schemes for their studies and incentives for same to start up small businesses. When this is achieved, same youths will aid in advancing the course of the community and by this, the larger society is affected positively.

Once a youth is abandoned and is idle, he will fashion out ways to put food on the table and most times these ways are detrimental to the socio-economic wellbeing of the nation. We cannot afford to leave this vital area of our population idle as in doing so, the society retrogresses more than it progresses.”

Comr. Sanni Kafeel Abdulkadiri is passionate, energetic, youthful and resourceful. He is a concerned Nigerian who has since begun his political journey towards actualizing his dreams for the people of Etsako West Constituency II, Edo State and Nigeria at large.

Watch out for Sanni Kafeel Abdulkadir come 2023 election year!
