2016-2020 Batch A & B N-Power beneficiaries who are currently undergoing a NEXIT Entrepreneurship programme in Etsako West Local Government Area have protested the poor quality of food being given to them in the course of their 5 days training at the Etsako West Council Hall in Auchi.

The members raised the alarm on Thursday in Auchi and protested what some of them called the dog food being supplied to them in the name of Federal Government's Feeding for the scheme.

They claimed that Federal Government in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and National Directorate of Employment (NDE) set up the programme to empower the exiting N-Power beneficiaries from the scheme and budgeted the sum of #2,500 as feeding (of one meal per day for each beneficiary) for the period of 5 days.

Trouble started on Tuesday when the first phase of food served were observed to be poorly cooked and packaged. It was gathered that the beneficiaries complained and the contractor appealed that the food would change the next day. On Wednesday, the meal served was worse as claimed and most members could not eat same.

Another complaint was lodged with the Etsako West Facilitator of the programme on Wednesday and the contractor when contacted promised it won't happen again.

However, a repeat of same poorly packaged meal on Thursday resulted into a fierce confrontation as the NEXIT Trainees rejected the food whilst the contractor insisted on serving what she brought.

There are 261 NEXIT Trainees in Etsako West who are currently being trained at the EWLGA Council. Alleged meal per beneficiary as budgeted by FG is said to be #2,500 per head.
This is about the sum of 3,262,500 if multiplied by the number of beneficiaries for 5 days.

When AUCHI BLOG & SERVICES sought to interrogate the caterer at the scene, the lady declined and drove off with the food she earlier brought to the venue of the training on Thursday.

Big question is, "Why is the contractor feeding NEXIT beneficiaries with poorly cooked food?"
