The current Deputy Rector Admin of Auchi Polytechnic, Tpl. A. Z. Al-Hasan has in the cause of a meeting between the newly appointed Chief Executive of Auchi Polytechnic and members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (Auchi Polytechnic Chapter) fired at the hearts of the Polytechnic community, important bullets of wisdom that if taken and applied in line with the intent of his message, Auchi Polytechnic shall truly appreciate in all all ramifications.
The Community's Eye was on ground to chronicle the event and here's the full text of his speech.
"The Rector, Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar, Principal officers of the Polytechnic, Past Deputy Rectors, Senior Academic Colleagues, Ladies and Gentle Men.
For me, what should I say?
Well, let me take it as a once upon a time opportunity to say thank you for supporting me in being able to pilot the affairs of the Polytechnic in the very brief time I was reposed with the responsibility of piloting the affairs of the institution.
I want to thank you very very profoundly. If I've made any mark, I owe it to you, thank you very very much.
My term was brief and (for me) I took it as a sojourn of providence. Like I've always owned up, I never saw it coming and for those who could discern, they should take it _my ascention to the position of the Ag. Rector is an admonition to anyone here.
I came here at the time when it was challenging to deliver in the stewardship of institutions. One, was paucity of finance. Secondly, I had to go defend budgets and issues I was never atune with but to the Glory of God, it came good and there's so much we have advocated for and asked for that will be coming in the coming years.
In my time despite the fact that I wasn't much on ground, the Polytechnic was peaceful. We held exams, conducted SUG Elections without any stress and that was because you were on ground to manage it for us.
It was short a time to mention anything but I do know that we've put in place structures and we tried to see how we could direct the affairs of the Polytechnic to the apex. I think only time will reveal this.
Ad:
When I look at you all, it is the scholarship and the characteristics that you exude that lead the perception of every onlooker.
This Polytechnic was established in yesteryears, in the 60s and in it metamorphoses it has come a long way. It belongs to many that have gone, few of us that are now and many generations yet to come, so try and leave the best of legacies.
The chief executive comes in and the next thing, it appears to me, in his welcoming remarks, in my own perception as if there was a vendetta to be reconciled. I don't know but for me, I see him in the light of Moses who fled from Pharaoh and returned back to Egypt in order to librate the children of Jacob _the Israelites.
My Chief Executive, may God help you in delivering this institution to the promised land.
This is the time. If they say you were once bad, this is the time to redeem your image and do the right thing so that Auchi Polytechnic will be at the Zenith."
