The legendary football promoter, Coach Someone has expressed sadness over the challenge of getting sponsors for young Athletes in Auchi Sacred Kingdom .
This was revealed during Jeremiah Enaholo A. Kadiri 's Saturday's Burning Issues aka Èmhö Neytö when the host was addressing the case of Sports Development in Afenmai land.
Coach Someone expressed dismay over the fact that though the area is blessed with footballing prospects, people are not really interested in investing in the lucrative business of sponsoring athletes in Auchi.
Talking about the way forward for sports development, he appealed to government at all levels, traditional institutions, private bodies, groups and well to do people to contribute in the effort of helping to sell talents in football and other sports in Auchi.
He called on youths to consider engaging in sporting activities as the benefits abound. He stated that people should not be dissuaded by the lack of sponsorship or unavailability of sporting infrastructure as engaging in physical activities is gainful to the health and wellness of the individual.
Jeremiah Enaholo Kadiri discouraged the act of organizing sporting activities purely for entertainment without considering the future of the players who if given the opportunity have the potential of making Edo and Nigeria proud at international leagues.
He stated emphatically that it was selfish to use the boys every year and leave them to fend for themselves till another sporting activity was to be organized.
Citing the yearly Otaru cup, Iyekhei Sports Fest and other platforms where young boys are invited to play in, the host expressed dismay that after every tournament no tangible amount of talent is taken beyond the shores of Auchi, Edo or Nigeria for a showcase or display on a larger platform.
