Auchi-Uzairue Youths Savage Fire Outbreak at NNPC Mega Station

Youths drawn from the Auchi-Uzairue axis of Etsako West Local Government Area in Edo North have in collaboration avert what would have led to a fatal explosion at the Auchi NNPC Mega Station on Monday.

The people of Etsako West woke up to a flaming Diesel truck packed at the mega station on Monday along the Benin-Okene Expressway just opposite Mr. Biggs and quickly mobilized to fight down the fire.

Though no official reports reveal the actual cause of the flames, it is believed that what happened emanated from the force of building pressure after a long journey.

The said diesel truck is said to have arrived the NNPC station on Sunday night but had to wait the night out before discharging its content _unfortunately, at about 4a.m on Monday, it was gutted by fire.

"we were praying in our Mosque after Our Lady of Fatima College in Jattu when we heard the first sound of an explosion. after completion of our salaat another explosion was heard and that's when we rushed down here to see what happened.

...by the time we got here (some few minutes to 6) there was no help in sight and that's when we started making calls to reach water tanker drivers in and around Auchi.

Soon, we were able to garner enough help to subdue the fire." Said Bro Zika Umar

The crowd was able to save the day by minimizing damage done by the fire through swift response and ample communication.

Just one Fuel dispenser together with the burning truck where affected at the time AUCHI BLOG visited the scene.

"we don't know what led to this outburst of flames as investigation into that is yet to commence but it's possible that building pressure caused it" a youth said while helping to quench the fire.
