NANS Inaugurates Edo State Joint Campus Committee Exco, Lauds Engr. Zubair Mustafa's Administration of Auchi Polytechnic

The National Association of Nigerian Students have on Tuesday inaugurated the Edo State Joint Campus Committee in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi.

The Inauguration was held at the institution's Main Auditorium in Area One and had in attendance the leadership of all tertiary institutions in Edo state.

Comr. Odiahi Thomas Ikhine, the NANS Vice President (Special Duties) declared the event open whilst Comrade Tasiu Meisabi the Convention Planning Chairman CPC anchored the event under strict compliance with covid-19 protocols.

Speaking on the issue of unionism, Comr. Odiahi informed all that the movement is a call to serve selflessly and noted that some times, unionists whilst serving humanity through fighting for the rights of the oppressed, pay the ultimate price.

The VP emphasized the weight of the National Association of Nigerian Students, stating that NAN is the most misunderstood yet biggest association in the country that is capable of forming a political party and gaining massive support through votes if the Youths wake up to the realization of the fact that it's time to unite, come under one platform and save Nigeria.

"...in every well to do family in this country, NANS has a member. NANS is not made up of only the Exco or those serving. Everyone who has a Matriculation Number, doing one programme or the other, even from primary, secondary and upto PhD level is a student and a Member of NANS." he said.

He called on the Students Union Government Presidents to as arrow heads of students' unions in all tertiary institutions ensure that the rights of students are protected without fear or favour in order to establish a common unity, one that will breed a community of Youths who look out for each other at all times.

The highpoint of the Inauguration was the declaration of the newly formed Exco of Edo State Joint Campus Committee where Comrade Emmanuel Moses of Auchi Polytechnic emerged the Chairman as Comrade Uwanugo Degberu from the University of Benin was made his Deputy.

Other Exco members are; Comrade Michael Ifidon (College of Education, Igweben) as Secretary, Comr. Alari Enoma Edosa as Public Relations Officer, Comr. Joseph Opeyemi Olatunji as Director of Action and Mobilization, Comr. Destiny as Deputy Secretary and Comr. Odia Esther as Director of Gender.

The Newly formed Executives proceeded from the Auditorium to the office of the Ag. Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Engr. Zubair Mustafa where formal introduction of the new Administrators of the Edo State Joint Campus Committee Exco was done by Comr. Odiahi.

The Vice President on behalf of Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students seized the opportunity to appreciate the Ag. Rector's style of administration and presented an award of commendation as a gesture of encouragement to the Engineer who has given 22 years of his life to training hands and brains for the nation's development in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi.

Responding to the Group's recognition, commendation and kind gesture, Engr. Zubair Mustafa stated that he is happy and will continue doing what is right in his line of work to better society through the training of Youths as well run the institution in the right direction having been vested with the ability and capacity to do so in Acting Capacity.

The Ag.Rector called on the newly elected exco to serve selflessly noting that with great powers come great responsibility. He congratulated the team, prayed for their success and wished them a reign filled with great achievements going forward.
