NGO Gives Scholarships, Donates Desks to Students of Akpekpe Secondary School

A Non Governmental Organization (NGO) operating under the aegis of Momali Women and Youth Foundation (MOMWYF) has sponsored the academic pursuit of not less than 7 Junior Secondary School students at Akpekpe Secondary School in Auchi.

This was made public on Friday during a second batch of free Desks distribution to the school by the chairperson of the NGO, Princess (Dr.) Bekisu Momoh Aliu.

She stated that the journey into contributing towards facilitating academic performances through the creation of conducive environments for students and teachers started in 2017 when the group gave scholarship to seven Junior secondary students who were to benefit in the scheme from Secondary level to the completion of their Tertiary education.

Dr. Bekisu informed all that by May another set of scholarships will be sponsored depending on the performance of students during the entrance exams scheduled for May 7th, 2021. She added that this round of scholarships shall also include students from South-Ibie as beneficiaries of the scheme given the need to expand her reach.

Speaking to AUCHI BLOGspot on the matter, Rotarian Yekini Oshioma Sadoh expressed joy over the humanitarian work being done by MOMWYF and prayed that the tempo is sustained in view of bettering the future of Etsako through Education and called on well meaning members of the community to key into the Programme to keep the flag flying.

The event was held at the Akpekpe Secondary School premises and had in attendance the Daudu of Utsogun village, Alhaji Jim Garuba together with the Daudus of Akpekpe, Omhémhi, and Osuali Villages.
