PDP Thugs Attack Members of Ughidane Assembly, Scores Injured, Destroys Properties amidst Sporadic Gunshots

Members of Ughidane Assembly were on Thursday attacked by a group of armed PDP thugs in Auchi Sacred Kingdom.

This is coming on a day when the People’s Democratic Party Ward 1 Members’ Rally was held along Otaru road to welcome Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state and political flag-bearer of the PDP.

The said Rally which was carried out at Prince Abuda Momoh’s Residence opposite the old Palace is in close proximity with the Ughidane Youths’ Assembly at Pa CJ’s Residence just opposite Total Filling station where the gruesome attack was meted.

 

 

Eyewitnesses say the young men who were heavily armed-to-teeth with guns, cutlasses and axes stormed the venue, shot at people and resorted to destruction of properties as people scampered away for their dear lives.

“This is one very surprising issue because this not our way of life. Irrespective of our political affiliations we don’t live like enemies. Ward 1 is united for APC and who ever supports other parties are allowed to do their thing because of the right to freedom of choice that we cannot deny you. PDP thugs coming to shoot, to disparage and destroy property of our party is unacceptable.” Said Abduljelil Abdulkadir who is fondly referred to as Chop-Small. He recounted that it took the grace of God for an old woman (later identified as the wife of Alhaji CJ) to evade being caught in the fracas that ensued.

“I want to call on the federal government to wade into this crisis, to come to the rescue of APC supporters in Edo state because the PDP have shown that they have resolved to destroy and intimidate people anywhere they discover that APC is going to win in the election. What happened today is a dress rehearsal to what will happen on election day if unchecked.” He concluded.

APC’s Vice Chairman of Etsako West Local Government, Mr. Sule Some-One was on ground to access the level of destruction that was perpetuated and intimated AUCHI BLOGspot about his disdain for such gross display of tyranny on the part of the PDP.

“Well, it is unfortunate that this is happening at this level. At least APC did their Rally yesterday and it was peaceful. I believe the rally was issue based because we were there to tell the public what the APC is going to do for them if voted for come September 19th. This idea of carrying guns because you know that these are supporters of the APC and because of that you want to intimidate them is wrong. I think they are getting it all wrong as no amount of intimidation will make us not come out to vote.

We are going to follow due process and obey the law. We are not going to exchange fire for fire. There is an appropriate authority that issues such as these are addressed for redress and that’s the way we the APC have decided to take.” He Said.

Mr. Ayuba Lawal A.K.A Prof. Popotenyen expressed shock over the incidence as he reported to jeyKAD of AUCHI BLOGspot that though he wasn’t around when the thugs came to carry out the attack on innocent people, he is unhappy with the sad development that has played out simply because of a Political Rivalry that has gone sour. He however sued for peace and called on relevant authorities to as a matter of urgency restore sanity to the peace loving home of hospitality, Auchi Sacred Kingdom.

This sad development led to the closure of businesses before the usual close of business for the day as traders, shop owners locked up their shops for fear of a reoccurrence of the ugly incidence.
