Management of Auchi Polytechnic Radio has revealed that its Hillside 94.1 FM has come back on-air on Friday.
This was made known to AUCHI BLOGspot when Mr. Kelly Odaro, the Station Manager stated that the medium of mass communication is back on the air with its programmes for the pleasure of her listening audience having suffered from a downtime which was occasioned by a storm.
March 4th saw a rain storm that destroyed so much properties in the cosmopolitan town of Auchi Sacred Kingdom. The Pavilion at Ikelebe Sports’ Arena and roofs of some buildings were blown off while gullies on erosion prone areas were further expanded in the course of the ice-studded rain storm that brought the Radio’s Mast to its knees.
Speaking on the new development, the SM stated that though the station’s mast has since been fixed before the covid-19 lockdown, installation of the antenna was stalled because of the ban of interstate travels.
“The management of the institution has been responsive. As you may be aware, the Rector (TPL. Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah) swiftly mobilized riggers to erect the radio’s mast when it fell, destroying the antenna. But the installation of the antenna was delayed owing to the covid-19 lockdown in Lagos, hindering interstate movement.
We are glad that the lockdown has been relaxed, hence, the firm handling the job was around to install the antenna and we have resumed transmission.”
“I am so elated, the station is back on air and the teeming audience indeed missed the sizzling informative, educative, educative and of course, entertaining programmes particularly the local ones targeted at the indigenes.”“Recall that Hillside FM Radio is the only station around the vicinity and has an impressive coverage of the area and public acceptance based on strict adherence to NBC’s policy of transmitting a higher percentage of local content in the programme’s schedule.
I fervently appeal to the audience to always tune to the station for their listening pleasure.
Thanks immensely.” He said.
Locals who have grown used to listening to programmes transmitted by the 94.1 frequency modulated band have however expressed mixed feelings about the length in time it has taken to get the radio back on. In all, they say that if not for the May 4th rain storm, the radio would have helped in championing the fight against the covid-19 experience given its pivotal role in driving communication messages down to the people through indigenous programmes.
Sir Raphael stated, “we are glad the radio has again gone on-air. We have really missed programmes from the station. You see, in times like the one we are in, the radio would have really been a source to reach our people to create the needed awareness about the reality of corona virus but then, the rain storm came in such a time that made it impossible for the needed to get done on time.
I’d like to appreciate our brother, Dr. SM Jimah the Aigbebako of Auchi Sacred Kingdom. We learnt through AUCHI BLOGspot how he has been on ground since the mast was brought down. We pray that God will give him the requisite wisdom in good health to continue piloting the affairs of the institution.”
Mr. Braimah Jafar a.k.a Lucky Marcus, Host of the most popular Afenmai Radio show, Itsemhakhona, while interacting with AUCHI BLOGspot stated that the activities of management in recent times can neither be downplayed nor be overemphasized given her resolve under the leadership of Tpl Dr. Sanusi M. Jimah to give the institution a face lift in all ramifications.
“kudos to management for this feat achieved in the side of Auchi Polytechnic Radio. Let’s not forget that the rector came to the station immediately the mast was brought down by the storm. He summoned the heads of the unit together with the dean of school of ICT and H.O.D of department of Mass Communication to expedite actions towards erecting the mast, installing the antenna and continue transmission within the shortest possible time.
However, the lockdown occasioned by covid-19 stalled the process even though the mast had been swiftly re-erected. He did not stop there because he had the listeners at heart. In view of this, he has taken advantage of the relaxed lockdown to install the antenna and ensure transmission of programmes.
We are fully back to engage our listeners on an upgraded level this time. The leadership of Dr. TPL Sanusi Momodu Jimah is lifting the radio to a higher height with better programmes, better equipments with better production from now on.
Let me use this medium to appreciate our listeners for their patience. Patience is the mother of a beautiful child.
Thank you very much.” He said.
