Gen Mechanic Escapes Death as Truck Crashes into Workplace
By:
Jeremiah Enaholo Kadiri
A
Mack truck fully loaded with laterite has on Wednesday crashed into a generator
repairer’s workplace at Suleman Street, Ekhei Girls road, Auchi.

Though
Akeem was able to escape contact with the truck, parts of his shop was damaged
together with the pole which halted the loosed vehicle from further
destruction.

“I was working when I saw the truck coming
from far off the hill. With the way it was moving I suspected something was wrong
and so I became alert. As it got closer I could hear the driver shouting and
asking his boy to throw in the wage. That was when I knew for sure there’s a
problem.
Instinctively I ran out of the
shop. It was going to crash into my workplace and would have crushed everything
but for the Street Light’s pole that stopped it from having much effect.
I can only say God saved me today!” he said.
The
said truck is said to have been carrying loads of sands to a work site of
Benin-Owena Basin at the end of Suleman street when the incidence occurred.
Attempts
at getting the driver to speak to AUCHI BLOGspot proved abortive as the time of
filing in this report.
