The proposed 5million
Naira donation earlier promised the people of Auchi Sacred Kingdom by Imoudu
Okhai yesterday met a dead end.
The
son of late Honorable Abas Suru who took to his facebook platform on Thursday to
announce his willingness to help cushion the adverse effect of covid-19 on the
indigenes of Auchi with the sum of 5million Naira stated that he did not get the
required number of viewership necessary for disbursing the funds via e-banking.
He
stated in the course of his live stream that whilst he got as much as 700
account numbers in his inbox, that same amount of people didn’t reflect the
number of viewers to follow through as both witnesses and beneficiaries.
While
speaking with jeyKAD, he expressed
his fears saying he wanted it to be a live transfer of 10 thousand Naira per
person, making it 500 persons in whole as beneficiaries but unfortunately these
persons didn’t come online to view his video.
Speaking
further, he stated that some well meaning Auchi Sons and Daughters have prevailed
on him to collaborate with them in view of converting the monies to relief
materials like foodstuffs, medication and other essential materials as these
will in no small measure help the beneficiaries stay at home as directed by
Government.
Elsewhere,
unverified claims have it that account numbers of party faithfuls are being
collected for transfer of funds as palliative in view of the covid-19 pandemic
on the people of Auchi. jeyKAD got
from a source who does not wish to be quoted that members of the All
Progressives Congress who are loyal to the Executive Governor of Edo state,
Godwin Obaseki, are being earmarked as beneficiaries as their account numbers
are being collated.
However,
this claim has been rebuffed by Mr. Nurudeen Oshioke the Chief Press Secretary
of Hon. Inusa Imonofi, Etsako West Local Government chairman.
He
stated that the claim is untrue and must not be taken seriously. He however
seized the opportunity to advice that people should be wary of fake news and be
alert.
In
view of the development, the CPS stated that the leadership of the Local
Government is doing its best at sensitizing the masses on precautionary
measures to take at times like this.
“Yesterday the chairman, Hon. Inusa
Imonofi took to the streets and major roads to sensitize the people of Etsako West
on the need to maintain a healthy and hygienic lifestyle. He encouraged all to
obey the stay-at-home directive to ensure that the situation is managed and put
under control.
I am not aware of reports on the
disbursing of stipends to members loyal to the executive Governor. Please people
should discard such claims as they are unfounded.” He said.
AUCHI BLOGspot is however using this medium to
encourage all to be alert, be mindful of false claims, maintain a healthy lifestyle
and obey government’s directives.
