The founder of Auchi’s most popular Social Event tagged  Lafta Department has indicated  that come 29th of February, he will be taking a new nomenclature befitting of his personality.

Prince Abdulrahman Momoh also known as MC Akpus has revealed plans to take a new stage name that is original and personal to his art and act of comedy, a genre of entertainment. The multi-talented Auchi Born entertainer in an interaction with AUCHI BLOGSPOT said it is high time he delineated himself from the ‘Akpus’ tag which a lot of artist have taken on.

“I want to be original in all my dealings including the name I go by. The name Akpus has become a thing for all comers and this has become a course of worry for me.

Recently, I’ve had course to speak with top standup comedians in the industry and from the interactions, I realized the need to have my own name.”

MC Akpus started off as a Director of Socials in the Department of Public Administration, School of Business Studies, Auchi Polytechnic in the year 2015 at age 18 and his first show was held in 11:45 at Akinrilaye street, Auchi. He has since soared in Local Show Biz to becoming a popular Master of Ceremony beyond the shores of Edo state.

5years after the kickoff of his brainchild, Lafta Department in Auchi Polytechnic, Rahman is positive that in another 5years he must have become a force to reckon with Nationally and even beyond the African shores as far as entertainment is concerned.

Speaking on the inspiration behind Lafta Department he recounted that during his Ordinary National Diploma level, academics was stressful and thus, there was the need to bring forth an escape from stress.

“Since I was the DOS and being that it was customary for every DOS to come up with an event or package for the academic session, I had to think of a way out. Then the idea came to me that I should not only organize an event but also make sure it becomes something that will be continuous. That’s how I formed Lafta Department and since then it’s been from one episode to the next. Even my HOD together with the lecturers of Public Administration had to attend and were impressed by the ensuing events.”

Having graduated from Pub Admin in 2019, the entertainer who is currently awaiting the release of his name on the senate list for NYSC Mobilization in 2020 has scheduled the 5th episode which he tagged BATTLE FIELD to hold on the 29th of February at Spetco Gee Mega Gardens, Auchi. He said that this will enable him attend to his show before mobilization for service comes in.

Speaking about his plans after service, the young man stated that his post youth service life will be held in the city of Lagos where he hopes to break into the industry properly.

“I am very optimistic and ambitious in my chosen career. I would like to break into the entertainment industry as not just a standup comedian but more so, a producer of great works of art. I am prepared to pay my due to ensure that when coming home, it’ll be a grand occasion.”

He stated that he is following the footsteps of the popular AY in ensuring that people who attend his shows get the value for their monies. He explained that he has been able to establish a rapport with AY who actually inspired him to do a change of name and more so, go further in the pursuit of his dreams.

“AY has been my mentor and has through his works, style and way of life influenced and inspired me greatly. I am positive I’m going to do great things too and climb the ladder to the top in the world of entertainment.”

“I will be ungrateful if I fail to mention that great minds are solidly behind this show. Prince Armstrong Momoh of Deeper Than Couture home of fashion and design and, Matto Digital Photos for their support so far. They’ve have supported me in more ways than I can count.”

MC Akpus also revealed that Auchi Polytechnic has in no small measure shaped his being and that of other artistes like MC Totori, MC Alamano, MC Albino, Victor AD, I Go Save down to MC Big Donny to mention but a few. He attested to the fact that in the world of campus entertainment, contents developed by Auchi Polytechnic’s entertainers are far more valued and hyped than those from other tertiary institutions. He attributed this to the unique atmosphere provided by the management of the institution in view of giving students the opportunity to not only excel in academics but to in addition to their primary assignment, acquire and promote their innate skills whether in entertainment and or entrepreneurship
