Indigenes
of Auchi Sacred Kingdom have together with their counterparts within and
outside the shores of Nigeria reacted to the scene that has played out and led
to the rearrest of the convener of #RevolutionNow Omoyele Sowore barely 24hours
after he gained freedom in Abuja.
The
incidence which has sparked diverse reactions occasioned by the silence of the
presidency on same, is in the thinking of many an error on the part of the DSS
to act as the Judge of its own case.
As
a result, some indigenes of Auchi Sacred Kingdom have taken the instrumentality
of the new media to air their opinions.
“I don’t adore or have soft spots for Sowore.
In as much as Sowore called for a
revolution and what some guys would think or say about the unending detention of
the man, whom I don’t adore, the man should be released. Those calling for his
continued incarceration are only sounding vindictive and voicing their
animosity against Sowore.
None of us will swear on his life
that Nigerian lives have appreciated in line with the expectations we all
shared in 2015.
There’s a proverb which says “it is
the man who doesn’t place himself in the position of others that will always
commit a crime of murder.” Before anyone voices inanity, he should first
consider and critique himself, his deeds, and so on. It is easy to pour out
slimy verbiage when we are not the ones affected. Words to ponder over.” _Aliu S. Momodu
Stating
further that what transpired is a show of shame, Aliu reiterates his disappointment
thus,
“considering the show of shame that took
place in the court over the rearrest of Sowore by the DSS, it occurs to me that
the PMB Administration has decided to tow the path of autocracy in his
leadership style in Nigeria.
The event is a gruesome reminder of
the past. The past is wrapped in repulsive feelings which are still fresh in
living memory…”
Hafiz
Lawal a young activist from Iyekhe and an ardent follower of the embattled Publisher
of SAHARA Report has also voiced his dissatisfaction in the ensuing saga that
has played out in the case between Sowore and DSS.
“the rearrest of Sowore is an attack on our
freedom and dignity and as a Nigerian citizen, I feel it should have never
happened. It is a rape on our democracy.
Those who see nothing wrong in that
are heartless and are hypocrites. It would be laughable to see any Nigerian who
came out in defense of these thugs.
Buhari and DSS should simply obey
court orders and put an end to impunity to pave way for a robust Nigeria” _He said.
Additionally,
a very popular Buharist on Facebook and son of Auchi who goes by the name Bubu
Shuaib Abubakar Gcfr posted,
“Nigeria na our property.
You can never be more NIGERIAN than
a fellow Nigerian.
Just because you are privileged to
be on top today doesn’t give you the right to mess with our freedom of
expression. Stop letting your dogs out at the slightest provocation…”
It
should be recalled that in preparation for the planned revolution that led to
his arrest, Omoyele Sowore had on the 25th of July 2019 said,
“I’m not talking about protest. I’m embarking
on a revolution. 85% of Nigerians are in support. Don’t tell me about legal
implication or what the judge will say. We will bundle Buhari out of that place…
the DSS will seize to exist.”
While
some see his current predicament as nemesis following his role in the
activities that led to bringing into power President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, others
are concerned with the manner with which the Executive has handled their part
of the game.
A
constitutional lawyer, Liborous Oshoma on Arise TV on Saturday the 7th of December
stated in strong terms that though Sowore may have violated one of his bail
conditions, the DSS displayed a show of what he described as the Rule of Might
against the Rule of Law which clearly unveils a clear indication of disrespect for
the Judiciary by the Executive.
“the sanctity of our judicial process has
been violated as this is not about Sowore but about Judicial processes.” He
said.
Going
forward, he stated that no investor will like to continue doing business with
one who does not obey its own laws.
Oshoma
corroborated the event as one of the numerous unfortunate activities of hatred
on the part of the executive that have begotten hate upon the masses and stated
that invasion of constitutional processes by DSS, inability to fulfill campaign
promises, failure to pay salaries as well as violence marred electoral
processes can only ingrain the seed of hatred in the hearts of the masses.
Meanwhile, popular Nigerian Musical super star Davido has also tweeted that if a child had
dreams of becoming a lawyer or judge, after having seen what transpired in
court yesterday, he’ll no longer see such dreams as lofty.
Professor
Wole Soyinka has this to say,
“little did
I suspect that the state children of disobedience (DSS) would aspire to the
level of the African Wild Dogs…”
Additionally,
the Nigerian Bar Association is currently demanding the immediate sack of the Director General
of the DSS Yusuf Mogaji Bichi, stating that he has displayed gross
irresponsibility in his duties and recent dealings with the Judiciary in the
course of handling Sowore’s case.
I
am happy that the people of Auchi Sacred Kingdom have expressed their
views on the matter as this goes to show how much we can contribute to
national development through electioneering as well as constructive
criticisms of those that have been voted into power but then the
following questions are begging for answers;
When
will the Executive right her wrongs on matters of obeying court orders? When will
those at the helm of affairs realize that power is transient? When will
Nigerians be purged off the hate that has been planted by insecurity,
unemployment amongst other dastard circumstances that come with being Nigerian?

I feel the comments do not reflect a cross section of the people of Auchi. Nobody seem to see the fact that Police can re arrest you even after you are granted bail on a different charge. Is his call to revolution not treasonable, even if on bail for a different crime? I also detect a tinge of bias in the reporter's tone. It means only those views that reflect the reporter's bias will be captured. Little wonder the slant in the captured views.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to be drawn into this kind of situation because a lot of those commenting
ReplyDelete1. Knows very little or nothing why Sowore was rearrested
2. They are commenting based on what they are meant to believe
3. Knows nothing about governance, or
4. Being bias towards the government of PMB.
There are fundamental questions that he needs to answer before you ignorantly pitch your tent with him. For now though, I wish him well.
